On Tuesday morning we left the resort at 5:30AM. We were up so early to help a farmer with his morning milking of his cows. He has a milking machine that allows him to milk two cows at once. Once all the cows were milked we got to go and bottle feed the newborn calves. Although this was fun and interesting to do for a day, the farmer we worked with told us he’s been for 14 years.. every day.
After the morning milking we had breakfast then and went back to the farm. Here we learned about artificial insemination and got to practice palpating for the cervix inside of a cow’s rectum. We tested our knowledge by palpating the inside of the rectum and guessing if the cow was pregnant or not based on the feel and location of the cervix. After we guessed the employee would go in and tell us if we were right or wrong. After we completed that we spent the afternoon at the Belize Zoo.Da
