Taweechai Elephant Camp

June 1, 2016 by Sherilyn Nunez Leave a Comment

Elephants are very respected animals in Thailand and I knew it was a MUST to see them when first thinking of my Thailand bucket list, but I wanted to make sure it would be in an actual elephant camp that does not mistreat these beautiful animals. Like I stated before, elephants are respected in Thai culture but because of the tourism that they attract and the money it can bring a lot of locals have used areas to mistreat these elephants and use them to generate money while harming them. A group of seven of us took a three hour drive to Kanchanaburi where we stopped by a camp that was safe for the elephants and we had a blast. It was a large safe environment and we got to see even the smallest of baby elephants being raised together with their mother. It was one of the most beautiful sites and things I have done in my life.
