Day 6: Ralf Kalwa

September 29, 2016 by Paulina Zyskowski Leave a Comment

On the drive out of Kruger we took the rode frequented by rhinos. We saw so many, and all of them were really close to the car. They looked so serene in the early morning sunrise, surrounded by dew and mist. I think in total we saw 16 rhinos on our drive out. Once we […]

We drove to […]

On day 4 we drove to Kruger National Park. Kruger was a lot warmer than where we  were before. The day was just spent driving and settling into camp, so nothing much exciting happened. The campsite was really nice though and had nice amenities. Dwarf mongooses and guinea fowl were walking around all the time, […]

Day 3: CLAW Veterinary Clinic

September 23, 2016 by Paulina Zyskowski Leave a Comment

After an early wakeup call and sunrise, we started our drive to Vanderbijlpark, an industrial city. There we arrived at CLAW Veterinary Clinic, a nonprofit clinic serving the local townships. With the work of one veterinarian, a few technicians, and many volunteers, CLAW manages to treat hundreds of animals yearly that would otherwise receive no […]

What Is This? Who Are They?

This blog is home to the thoughts and images of Rutgers University students as they travel the world this summer. Each student received a scholarship to experience the sciences beyond their New Jersey borders. In addition to the research and/or coursework, they will keep a journal or blog. Their thoughts are recorded once or twice a week over the duration of their international experience.

For more information about this scholarship, please visit the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences International Programs page at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
