I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little bit nervous for this trip to Greece.
For one, I’ve never been out of the United States. I predict It won’t be easy leaving behind many aspects of the western culture and especially the comfort of assuming everyone speaks English. Needless to say, I’m entirely primed for culture shock. On top of being thrown into a completely unfamiliar environment, I don’t really know any of my fellow students on this trip. I’ve heard countless times that while the program is only two weeks, you meet and become close to friends that will last a lifetime. While this is nice to hear, I cannot help but feel anxious about meeting and living alongside the same group for two weeks straight.
As I cross off the last items on my packing list and quadruple-check that I have my passport with me, I’m finally ready to head off to the airport later this afternoon to say goodbye to the states and hello to the Mediterranean lifestyle.
