This is my last and final post! I have been back in the United Stated for a little over a week now, and I’m finally getting back into my normal daily routine. Being in Greece for a month has made me realize how fast paced life really is back at home. Between working 2-3 jobs, seeing family/friends, and saving some time for myself I have come to realize how beneficial the Mediterranean lifestyle was for mental health as well as physical health. This study abroad trip was my first big adventure outside of the United States and i would not change a single thing about the program. I feel as if I left one person and cane back a new person with a different outlook on everyday life. I feel more independent and proud of myself for pushing my normal limits and trying so many new things that I would not have done at home. Since returning I have continued making and eating traditional Greek foods that I learned to make throughout the trip. It’s crazy how different you feel when comparing locally sourced foods (Greece) to more processed items (US). The main thing I miss from Greece if the culture, people and the coffee. I hope that one day I will be able to return to Greece so I can experience new islands, and be able to live the Mediterranean lifestyle once again.
If I were to sum up the key point of this trip it would be με μέτρο or in English “In moderation.” Through this experience I have allowed myself to explore new environments, challenge my own knowledge, as well as relax and enjoy everyday life.
I have had a wonderful experience and I hope so many more students will get a chance to experience this amazing country!
Until next time,
