Reflection

Studying abroad has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It was three weeks away from what I was used to and overall a really humbling time. One of the few worries of going on the trip was that I was going to be in a new country with complete strangers. We were […]

Hands down one of my favorite parts of the trip was volunteering for an organization called HALO, which stands for Hoedspruit Animal Outreach. There are only 17 days left until I leave for South Africa. I’m currently going through a mixture of emotions. I am definitely excited but I am also nervous to be away from my friends and family for so long. I’ve traveled multiple times in the past without my parents, but I have never flown […]

About Laura Baracaldo

Photo of Laura Baracaldo.

My name is Laura Baracaldo and I have the opportunity to study abroad in South Africa. As a future veterinarian,I am super excited to be participating in a program that will take me all throughout South Africa to work alongside veterinarians and native animals of the region. Through this 3 week program I will be assisting in dog spay and neuter clinics, wildlife rehabilitation, and hands on work with animals such as lions, zebras and snakes.
